Winter has settled in the Luangwa with June and the bush has cleared quite nicely to reveal lots of the valley’s beautiful inhabitants.

Take a look at what we’ve been spotting

Breeding season has started for the niles crocodiles as they lay their eggs in October.

The yellow-billed storks are still out in big numbers but most of the chicks have grown into immature adults with most of them flying by themselves.

We’re enjoying great and almost daily sightings of Thornicroft’s giraffe.

Leopard numbers are still amazing with a few new male leopards on the scene. After seeing a mating pair, we hope to see a cub or two in the next 3 months!

Our smallest owl, the Scops owl.

Two of the four vagrant males visiting Tafika Camp in the early hours of the mornings.

Several lion sightings from Tafika Camp and the Chikoko Trails walking camps from the vehicle and on foot.

Hippos galore with the addition of many new babies after their birth at the end of the Emerald season.

Elephants from the air.
