Walking safaris are accompanied by a Remote Africa Safaris guide, a National Parks armed scout and the all important tea bearer! One begins to understand the smells, the tracks and the vegetation, often missed from a vehicle. In time the interested observer becomes just another mammal in the park!

At Tafika Camp walking is offered as an optional morning or afternoon activity.

A unique walking experience in The South Luangwa National Park is Chikoko Walking Trails, where one enjoys a few days on foot, staying in comfortable bush camps: Chikoko Tree Camp and/or Crocodile River Camp. There are no roads or vehicles. Guests may walk from one camp to another, their luggage portaged on ahead, or remain at one camp if they choose. We recommend spending 2 days in each camp, hence a trail of 4 days duration.

The Mwaleshi River is the honey pot of the North Luangwa National Park. Ten kilometers from its confluence with the Luangwa River is Mwaleshi Camp, where the walking enthusiast can enjoy the magic of true wilderness in a setting perfectly integrated with the environment. An 8 day walking special combines both Chikoko Walking Trails in the South Park and Mwaleshi Camp in the North Luangwa. Email us for details.

Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to walk.
